The Sun's Blessing
Sankranthi is the day when sun begins
To shift its course and move towards the north.
A festival of joy and hope it brings
To celebrate the bounty of the earth.
We thank the sun god for his grace and light
And offer him our prayers and gratitude.
We fly our kites and watch them soar in flight
And share our food and sweets in festive mood.
We also recall the stories of the past
That tell us how this day came to be.
How gods and sages blessed this day at last
And made it sacred for eternity.
So let us cherish this auspicious day
And make our love immortal like the sun.
