Once Quiet
In my heart, I'm sound asleep
Drifting in this serenity
A silent night that I wish to keep
To preserve what's left of sanity
The days are long and rowdy still
Filled with much commotion
But through the night I'll have my fill
To such deep, profound emotion
Seeing the life I made once quiet
Crumble in front of me
I feel that I should be the one to get
The time that I did see
On waters or land can make a vow
So true are sounds of dread
Can I still hear the silence now
Before I wound my head
To silence and to calm the heart
A sanctuary to heal
The clearest path for which I'll part
A life I long to feel
