DON'T SAY NO ONE EVER CARED
Don't say no one ever cared,
When you reinforced your walls;
When something deep and frightening,
Threatened to invade and take shelter,
In the core of your weary and famished soul.

Don't say no one ever cared,
When you easily fell in line,
Burying yourself under the rubble
Of norms and clichés.
When you casually free-fell;
Wide-eyed and confident,
Giving in to your insecurities,
Whose depth is groundless.

Don't say no one ever cared,
When you shut out sunlight
Snuffing the life from the lonely flower
Which sat alone in the earthen vase,
Needing brightness just as you.

Don't say no one ever cared,
When you hoisted your black flag,
And went to war with love and beauty.
When you gave a slap on the wrist,
To those who made a selfless pledged
To dilute life's toxic perception in your eyes,
With simple gestures of affection.
Don't say no one ever cared.
