The Terror That Comes in the Night
She’s back
An insidious creature of unbelievable dreams
Mind suspended from catatonic cords
As she slips through the seams
The familiar loss of hope
In the warm midnight calm
Found in a shot of dope
Filling the subways and tunnels beneath the skin
Bringing an old life back from the dead
An unwanted relapse of an unrequited love
Conjuring the ancient plague
Polluting my head
Peering out from the darkest corner lies
Moving mannequins at the edge of my eyes
Reunited to torment me
Which she does so well
Bringing along her parasitic love
But my lips are sealed when I yell “Enough!”
Hairs stand up straight in unison
From the paralyzing pitch of a static hum
Frozen stiff while my inside cries
You wouldn’t think that over time the fear subsides
But don’t let anyone fool you
Because it never does
Drawing the life while I sleep
No complaints when she drains
At least something thinks of me
Yet, after years without feeling her burn
Something within longs for her return
I’m ready for her to take me
Far from the pain and malady
Although another night comes and goes
Hence, I curse her and fellow shadows
Then, one night, she appears
It is, however, far too late
Extended time released exit
Will teach her to make me wait…
