cinnamon apple, pumpkin pie, pumpkin stew

it might have been another day for you
a cold day in october, after a warm summer
finding warmth and comfort in prepared food
to me it was the last time I visited you

you are right here, yet I mourn you
was it me that changed?
did I build walls that I am too afraid to break?

today, I still think of you every time when I see
cinnamon apple, pumpkin pie, pumpkin stew
strange connotations, but it brings me comfort
that there was at least one day I made you happy
