The Joy I Know You Feel

Son, I knew that you couldn't go any longer
In your life there was no way
I watched as you truly suffered
You planned that tragic day!

I had no right to ask you to stay
Because I knew what you were going through
Years of fighting with no relief
It really took a toll on you!

I realize that I've been holding on so tight
So scared to let you go
But it was your life for you to live
It wasn't about me, I know!

It's just so hard dealing with you being gone
But I have to tell myself every day
You knew all along what you had to do
You didn't feel there was another way!

I know you're finally where you wanted to be
And you have such peace that you've never had
I'm going to be happy and joyful for you
Even though the pain is the worse I've had!

I know my heart tells me that I'll see you again
So I need to try to let the pain go
Because I need to think about the joy you have
While I'm loving and missing you so!
