Better Off Alone
She’s created barricades to her heart
Keeping her protected from more pain
Never allowing her feelings to restart
So she won’t get hurt again and again

The walls shes built are very strong
And can not be easily torn down
They block out all that don’t belong
Causing them to just turn around

Sometimes she wants to be heard
So her defenses become very weak
As she starts believing in his word
Creating cracks in her heart to leak

She becomes vulnerable once more
As he begins unlocking her heart
But quickly she again slams the door
Never allowing a happiness to start

Her mind goes back into her zone
By sabotaging what they both feel
Believing she’s just better off alone
Then to risk a loss of something real

Her walls become strong once again
By not allowing another man to enter
As she’s goes back being just a friend
Protecting her heart front and centre
