The Proposal
I walk the streets alone at night,
My thoughts are all that's near.
They spiral rapidly through my mind,
Never to be clear.
Hopelessly wandering back and forth,
Through streets of dim light.
A sudden feeling dawns on me,
A feeling of delight.
Realisation hits my mind,
As I walk through the empty streets.
Down towards your house I stride,
To tell you how I feel.
Knocking on your door,
I stand and nervously wait.
Underneath the ice white moon,
Sweat dripping from my face.
You answer the door with a greeting smile,
And ask me how I've been.
To your surprise I kiss your cheek,
And make my way down to one knee.
I pull out a parcel from within my coat,
Inside a diamond ring.
I ask you the question,
You longed to hear.
Will You Marry Me?
To your response a mighty cheer,
Heard for miles around.
Making me the happiest man,
The happiest man in town.
