On my own two feet
As I look into the abyss,
The abyss looks into me,
In capturing me,
As the darkness unravels,
Surrounding me.

I begin to feel tight,
And my soul very light,
It shows me a child,
Down on their knees,
Looking at the scrapes on their hands,
Then looking up,
While crying at me.

The abyss closed back up,
The darkness fleeing,
Letting go of my soul,
I fall on my knees,
I look at my hands,
And there lies scrapes,
And tears in my eyes.

I was that child who looked up at me,
The abyss showed the kid in me,
Still in pain and crying.

But I get up,
I wipe away the tears,
And clean up the blood,
No longer needing to be coddled like a child,
Because I can stand on my own two feet.
