Oratio ad Noctem
Night, I know.
I know you spread your polka dot blanket
To mask the sun's brightness and to spite him.
I know you steal his golden rays
To make your paltry light.

But Night, in all you do...
regard my Beloved.

Darkness, I see.
I see the craven beings you shelter.
I see the wicked deeds that you hide.
But Darkness, in all you do...
regard my Beloved.

Dusk, I hear.
I hear  the voices of the dark sprites 'neath  your cloak.
I hear the early evening plots of evil men.
But Dusk, in all you do...
regard my Beloved.

For he has stolen away,
Under Darkness's cover.
And Night will lend him her stolen light.
As Dusk quenches his thirst with the dew of dreams.
