King And His Wings
You were my king and I was your queen,
Or should I call myself your wings?
You liked how I gave you a sense of freedom
when we flew,
But you didn’t want just me, no.
So slowly your greed took over and you cut them from my back.
You thought with them you would soar,
But without me you plummeted from the heights and into the thorns below.
As you bled out, you begged me to fly you away.
I looked down at you and smiled, “such a shame you took my flight away, now neither of us will see the light of day.”
You sobbed realizing your terrible mistake.
Bur darling I lied.
Because while you lied in your grave, I took your crown,
And I would rule to see another day.
