When the sun was visible

Someone wept in silence
until the day was done,
Wishing something with all her heart
for you and her,
until evening's dusky tone.

Before the night fell on her face,
That someone was no one else,
Who believed she could join you,
In your speechless presence.

But she left footprints
On the path away
From your home.

affection alone.
