The Human Condition
#WritcoPoemPrompt76
Why do people do bad things? Answer this question by writing a poem.
In shadows deep, where darkness lays its claim,
A question stirs, its origin the same,
Why do people, in moments unforeseen,
Choose paths that lead to actions most unclean?
Within the depths of human heart and mind,
Complex emotions, motivations intertwined,
A web of reasons, tangled, hard to trace,
Unveils the secrets of humanity's darker face.
Fear's whispered tendrils, like a phantom's touch,
Can steer hearts astray, motives they clutch,
Desperation's grip, a cruel and harsh demand,
Can push souls to transgress in a desperate stand.
Ambition's fire, burning bright and bold,
May drive one to deeds that the righteous scold,
For power and control, a seductive lure,
Lead astray those whose hearts were once pure.
Yet empathy's flame, a light that remains,
Guides some through storms, humanity's pains,
For in understanding's embrace, we find,
A path to goodness, to actions refined.
In truth, the answers are manifold, complex,
Human nature's dance, tangled, perplexed,
For darkness and light within us reside,
Choices define us, our destinies decide.
So, ponder this question with hearts that seek,
The reasons why humanity sometimes turns bleak,
Through empathy's lens, may we strive to learn,
And kindle a world where compassion shall burn.
