i saw the crushed light.
in his eyes.
and mistook it for stars.
i felt the heavy burdens.
on her shoulders.
and called them wings.
i found all these wild colors.
spilling from my mind.
my mouth and my eyes.
and caught them my hands.
i painted them across the ceiling.
and called it a rainbow.
maybe that's my greatest flaw.
but also what creates the art.
the ability to find.
the most enchanting beauty.
in the broken.
