Once I was loved, oh how I glowed
With a warmth that only true love bestowed
Every moment felt like pure gold
As if nothing in the world could get old

The way their eyes sparkled when they looked at me
Made me feel like I was the only one, you see
Their touch was like a soothing balm
Calming any fear, hurt or discontent, no harm

The memories of long walks and laughter
Still fill my heart with joy and wonder
Their love was all-encompassing, true and pure
Something that I will always cherish, for sure

But now, it's all just a distant dream
A memory that need not be seen
A love that has long been gone
Leaving behind only tears and a mournful song

Still, I am grateful for once being loved
For the moments that made my heart soar above
A love that may never come again
