Sound the alarm! a fire of greed burns through the land,
robbed off the oil as water turns toxic with crude,
economically starved and striving to stay afloat,
a people once rich now drowns in squalor.

Roaming about is the dawn of the age,
forced in bed with dubious means to survive,
while dusk reign selfishly prosperous,
in emptiness, offering nothing but frail intellect.

As a cuckold husband in a loveless marriage,
so are my people clueless of their emasculation,
making excuses for the failure of criminals,
bound to the river with tickles to quench their thirst.

Once a bride of pride crowned in jewels,
stripped bare with poverty covering her shame,
her honor coated in disgraceful terror,
for her chosen protectors now become predators.

cry aloud! let the echo of mourning resound,
greatness has been injured by corruption and insecurity,
she lies lifeless as borrowing pumps her heart,
defibrillated by quacks who continue to bleed her wealth.
