Lost Without Purpose
Keys without locks,
Held in my hand,
Weightless and useless,
Like a puzzle's missing piece.
Why do I cling to them,
These keys without purpose?
Perhaps it's the hope
Of unlocking hidden doors,
Of discovering secrets untold.
But as I turn them over,
Examining each intricate design,
I realize they are just trinkets,
Shiny baubles with no meaning.
Yet still I hold onto them,
Afraid to let go,
Afraid of what it means
To have nothing to unlock.
I wonder if I am...
Held in my hand,

Like a puzzle's missing piece.
Why do I cling to them,
These keys without purpose?
Perhaps it's the hope
Of unlocking hidden doors,
Of discovering secrets untold.
But as I turn them over,
Examining each intricate design,
I realize they are just trinkets,
Shiny baubles with no meaning.
Yet still I hold onto them,
Afraid to let go,
Afraid of what it means
To have nothing to unlock.
I wonder if I am...
