I’ll work a little more
so that I can afford
new carpet for the floor.

I cannot wear the clothes
that someone else has worn.
I’ll buy new clothes instead
of mending what is torn.

I’ll never sell a deal
or give a penny more.
Invest my cash instead
of giving to the poor.

Make friends of wealthy men.
For business, go to school.
Good stewardship of coin
is certainly the goal.

I’ll pay the highest price
and put myself in debt;
The property of dreams
I simply have to get.

My children will live well
in houses that are grand.
I want them all to be
established in the land.
