Threw Out Old Boxes

Threw out old boxes,
Regrets and photographs,
Empty pockets and lockets,
and things that made me laugh.

Threw out old boxes,
it's contents from the past.
Letters, trinkets, scented flowers.
Memories that will forever last.

Threw out old boxes,
and blew out a sigh.
Promising to remember,
and also not to cry.

Unknown is the journey,
or for how many miles.
A new chapter begins,
and I gave a little smile.
Opportunities await
in a world that is vast.
As I threw out old boxes,
I said goodbye to the past.
