Then and Now, Now and Then
In need of a laptop
Accompanied by a promiscuous woman in a crop top
I had logged on to cyberspace
And wondered the numbers that die alone
how thoughts and emotions cover face
wish I had a clone to save face
wish I had a phone that left, no trace
too many live in their screens without promotion
we battle strife with no guard, no protection

We grew up unstructured, my culture was brought to me by a plugged in box
My family vividly painted a picture without a frame
I hid a few cracks then blamed my brother
before the peeps came
he had gone to sleep
Mama fetched her stick
I was dreading getting caught in a lie
but to open up the truth I'd rather die

That was ages ago
When we still valued the moments
Recently discovered I've been judging books by their covers
from Adlous Huxley to David Eaglemen
have I been living a lie?
