If only wishes can come true,
I have one or two or maybe a few,
And they're all about you,
Look at the irony of it all
The world so big and we so small
And yet you are the one for whom I fall.
The meaning of love, I got it today
I saw everyone else leaving their way,
Looking at you, I hoped you'd stay.
You gave me a false hope to keep
I saw you and my heart would leap.
But in the end, it's I who weep.
So many wishes, so much trust
I put in you, you let it rust
Making our love turn to dust.
And Oh, the irony of it all
I have scars from my earlier falls
Because I wish, I wish, I only wish, but never get it at all.
