I've had more life without you here,
Yet the memories of you are so sincere,
You were my first loss,
But not my last,
But our lives together now live in the past.
Your last child left this world last year,
And it's your first birthday without her here,
It leaves a loss that's oh so raw,
Because life's not what it was before.
In afterlife, it's another birthday,
It's another one where your soul is away,
But I hope you're enjoying a party up there,
And that one day it's a day that we both can share.
Until then, I'll celebrate on my own,
Because forgetting is something I can't condone,
Make sure that you always leave me a chair,
Because I never know when I'll be partying up there.
