one stop light town.
I crave the unfamiliar.

To blow dust on this one stop light town that bears the weight of all of my failures
To carry a "hop in the car and drive" mentality
Racing away from tortured memories

Though I don't really have a plan
And if I did maybe I'd have ran
When the offer arose a decade ago
But I froze

Choking on the fear that I was not good enough
But oh, was I in love

With the idea of never taking a second glance
At the dust flying in the rear-view glass
Praying for a gentle place to stay
At the stops along the way

I think I'd head west.

Maybe I'd have found my way in a tiny crossroads town
Dusted my boots and planted roots in the ground
Between a sea of swaying green
That is desperate to be seen

And a sky that you can see for miles

Or maybe I'd have headed south
Followed the clouds to a town
Not that much different from this
But how would I know if I've never been?

Take me home.

Where the flowers bloom in early June
And I'm seated under the light of a waxing moon
I'll whisper "I've made it, momma"
Just like I said I was gonna

Oh, to make the unknown
My home
