Spare the rod, but not the child
spare the rod, but not the child,
I don't know the effect of these words,
for they always had a deeper meaning to me,
but I could never figure it out...

maybe it's the moments as a child I wished
someone stood up for me,
or said that this was wrong and is so far off from the social norm,
that futile attempts were made to cool tempers
fueled by alcohol, the poison of the soul,
brings out the worst of us either violent or an internal struggle within,
see it makes you fearless which is good for stepping outside your comfort zone,
but terrible when it fuels a rage and past unhealed traumas inside.

silence is just as bad as alcohol,
for you yourself can be seen as a bottle of emotions,
with nowhere to go, you have no choice but to expode for better or for worse,
in my experience it's almost always the latter
spare the rod, but not the child...

dominance isn't love, controlling someone else doesn't give you peace,
giving someone the freedom to enjoy and live their life to the fullest,
to live care free, innocent and free,
is a gift that should never be taken away from any man, woman or child,
a king that rules out of fear, would always fear a revolt !
it's the same for a household !
