James 4:2
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have,
and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Not everything and or everybody is for us.
Wanting is a part of our human nature lusting is wanting of things that we don't have weather it's human or anything else. Lusting after things can cause us to forget to forgive giving place to revenge for that's that not our own.
Seeing others with that they want but don't have because they haven't bothered to ask the Lord for. Our asking the Lord for something is truly misunderstood.
Some go to the Lord in prayer for that that they want and need believe and receive having waited until it was given to them.
Then there are those of us that believe that if it isn't given at that second or more it's not worth asking the Lord for anything and go to other sources.

James 4:3
Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

We sometimes get tired of waiting on the Lord and move on our own to another way of getting that, that we want and need.
The Lord's time is perfect ask and then wait on the Lord he is always on time.
