China's Wuhan new normal
Presented its angry face
In December 2019.
With wings so swift
With teeth so sharp
With Jaws so strong
And a heart,
If any,
So heartless.

A monster like no other seen
Anywhere, anytime, this century
Faster than bush fire
Spreading through ports,
Through airports,
Opaque to border surveillance
Defying smart electronic eyes
Sparing none on its path
Leaving millions dead
Within three short months.

Changing the age-old values,
The life game-changer
Dulled vibrant city life
Within days.
Changing everything
In the world we thought
We knew so well.

We had strange new commands
To keep so as to live:
One metre-rule -
Avoiding crowding
even in the
bursting
slums
of our
congested
now
confused
cities.
Washing hands, sanitizing, Facemasks ... Social distancing...
Became the new norms.
Fear, Confusion and Uncertainty
Reigned each day.

The health Cabinet Secretary
told the nation:
'If we continue
to behave normally
this disease will
treat us abnormally.'

And so,
Countries went down
Into unplanned lock-downs,
Cities built special wards
Timely within no time,
Without building cure-time
To find cure for the virus.

Schools closed hurriedly
Businesses closed down
The morturies closed down
And the dead, like dogs
were buried
Without a mourn,
And soon
Cremation replaced
The normal burials
For the high death rates.

The church closed down
Through out the world,
As the world variously
Worshipped the new god,
The god who blessed
With horror and death!
Betraying the God of gods,
The God who blessed
With love and life .
