A Life Dismantled
In the wreckage of choices made, a wife stands alone,
The piper demanding to be paid, her joy overthrown.
A marriage full of plans, now drowns in despair,
Gone are the echoes of laughter so grand, replaced with tear soaked prayers.

He slips further and further away, day after day,
Lost he is, to demons that prey.
The sparkle in his green eyes,
Now clouded by a pill soaked haze.

Promise’s once vowed, now broken and shattered,
Fortunes blown, dreams have ceased to matter.
Trust shared, now just a distant memory,
Replaced by fear, and a constant worry.

A relationship filled with happiness and cheer,
Now a battleground where love disappeared.
Smiles and hugs, replaced with deceit, secrets, and lies,
Homeless, doing without, she’s ready to give up the fight.

He lost himself, in the chaos and pain,
His spirit, his joy, washed away like rain.
His identity, his self worth, all slowly erode,
As he drowns her with burden's, an unbearable heavy load.

He hears whispers of escape, in addiction's cruel guise,
Clarity has faded, all hope has been denied.
The final bonds torn apart, in the grip of addiction,
We break our loved one’s hearts
.

All that was cherished, those loved so very much,
Dismissed, he chose the drug.
A life dismantled piece by tragic piece,
In pursuit of his next euphoric release.
