Sirens in the Summertime🧜♀️
Ships crash
Against the unforgiving tides.
The currents twist and bend,
Trying to find an opening
To pull the mighty vessel
Into a salty grave.
My heart floats in your ocean
It fights against the tides,
Of lies and deceit.
I know you are good.
I know this is a storm that will pass.
But am I wrong?
Maybe it isn't a storm, but an endless monsoon.
Maybe you reeled me in,
So you could share this hell
With someone else.
Maybe the promises you made
When we first set sail.
Weren't the chirps of birds
Or the bubbling of brooks
Or chimes dancing in the wind.
Maybe those sweet sounds
We're no better
Than the song of sirens in the summer time,
Coaxing the poor listener
Into the deep depths of the sea.
