Is it love,
If it seeks to give,
All the pleasures known;
To the heart and flesh,
And all which surrounds and defines it.
Is it love,
If it has a touch,
Of tightlipped emotions,
Or prohibited imaginations,
Which builds with each thought.
Is it love,
If it selflessly sacrifices,
Without deceit,
Nor an expectant reward,
But for genuine happiness.
Is it love,
If it is willing to go the distance,
Savouring the journey;
To Forever's destination.
Is it love,
If it hungers to take apart;
Part for part, layer after layer,
To get to deeply hidden secrets,
Beneath things the mind says,
And those echoed by piercing eyes,
But forbidden by gentle lips.
Is it love,
If it thirsts,
Not just for fleeting climax,
But for the entangling depth,
Of another's identical soul.
