Goldfish
Bubbles of reminiscence burst, popping with realisation,
Crashing waves of static foam froth with failed recollections.

Afraid of being forgotten, yet I forget,
Just a bit of misremembering, just some thoughts floating away...
Should drown in guilt, yet I don't get to regret,
If I forget you're gone, how will I ask you to stay?

Memories scaled with shimmering laces of the ones I cherish,
Fade away to chaos, leaving nothing but permanent anguish,
Giving rise to a noisy ignorance, yelling screeches so hellish,
Glazed eyes staring at the glassy ones of the goldfish...

(Goldfish have a memory of about 3 seconds
A common myth, but interesting nonetheless)
