A beggar sitting by the roadside
With tattered clothes and slippers
Sweating as though he just had a bath
Because the sun refused to be merciful

He sings happily to the passersby
Telling them not to pass him by
Stretching forth his arms
As he expects them to give him alms

He sees the rich politician in his luxurious car
Wishing he was born with a silverspoon in his mouth
Unknown to him the politician was trying to travel far
From the town where assassins threaten his life

Then a beautiful young lady strolled along
And he wished he was as good looking as that
He didn't know she was going home to meet her sick mom
And she would meet a dead woman instead

Life is a shade of black and white
Be grateful to God for your situation
Whether it's a bright day or dark night
Don't give up for life is beautiful
