Dark is the night,
Darker the soul,
Fathomless depths,
Stories untold.
Whispers in shadows,
Echoes of fear,
Unknown horrors,
Lurking so near.
Eyes wide with terror,
Heartbeat like thunder,
What lurks in darkness,
That we must wonder.
A chilling wind blows,
A rustle, a creak,
Footsteps approach,
A fear we can't speak.
Darkness envelopes,
All that we know,
What lies beneath,
We dare not show.
In the depths of night,
We face our fears,
And hope for dawn,
To dry our tears.
But in the darkness,
The truth is clear,
There's more to this world,
Than we can hear.
For in the darkness,
The unknown calls,
And in its grasp,
We are but small.
Take heed, dear one,
When the night falls,
For in the darkness,
The true tale calls.
