The Pine Tree
A cabin amidst a verdant meadow
Standing at the junction all prominent,
O' the mountains, sheltering it from blizzards--
Once cradled in its ligneous couch
That nature admirer, a benevolent fellow.
He jumped from windows, rushing into the lush,
Pushing past those intruding boulders
Which descended from hillocks above.
Smelling scents of flowers and leaves,
Sprinkling water from adjacent river --
To the beaming saplings adorning the buds;
Yet deserting the newly grown o'er the soil.
Vast forests urged him to the top,
With altitude high and air still,
He encountered the pine of majestic height,
Its branches intense, the leaves their frills.
"Why stand so forlorn, don't you own friends?"
"None but myself as friend, a loner hence."
"Your siblings, don't they count, and your mother or father?"
"Departed sadly they, leaving me for an eternity. "
"What happened?" cried the fellow.
The pine juggling away the parched leaves of yellow--
Showcasing its versatile brown
Gazed at the human, weighing its frown.
"The fighters on sky at their breakneck speed,
Flashed past my grandparents' physique.
While their burning carcasses of tottering roots,
The falling foliage and decrepit shoots--
Wailed and shrieked in utter silence,
The hovering demons bombarded our heaven.
Far away when two-legged shrewds united,
To exchange feelings of contentment and amour,
Through a single manuscript or perhaps a paper,
My sister was felled by that malevolent hatcher.
This earth yielding my parents' funeral
Was witness to ghastly wounds,
Inflicted with atrocity from oil-hungry fools,
Then myself young, watched their demise too soon.
Neither since has been my wish to interact,
Nor make aquaintances, growing personal attachments;
For, forever now I am bound by my lonely fate,
Therefore, my prayer-- you leave me too. "
Heaving heavily, the fellow apologised,
On behalf of all "shrewds" which the former muttered.
"I vow to make the green greener, the tomorrow better,
To make ourselves work for the greater.
Therefore Mr. Pine, you needn't worry 'bout
your kids---
Your future shall thrive, the green youths all nourished. "
Declaring so, he withdrew with determined smile,
Leaving his hopelessly expecting ally behind.
