As far as a letter goes,
It was nondescript,
The message it carried was sinister.
It was sweet,
Deceptive
The words had all the right tugs
One that pulls at your heartstrings

As far as a letter goes,
It was nothing noteworthy
The meaning it carried was devastating
In metaphors, that lull you in honey tones
And wraps you up in comfort
It made you believe.

As far as a letter goes,
It was nothing new,
The same ink, etching the same hopes
and love and so much more.
But when penned by you...
The melting of my being was tragic
How the letters,
The simple letters,
The ones I used to love so much
Have now become horrid memories
The bluff they carried
Pushing me to euphoria
Now, all I am left is,
Bereft of what all I ever was.

As far as a letter goes
It was just a dream
Vandalising my every reality.
