Blooming Fables
A thousand years will come to pass
And these blooming colors will fade,
Their tender petals remind me
Of my younger years when
My brother and I played
Plucking flowers along the road,
Beside the little cottage we lived in.

Today I saw some beautiful garden cosmos
Standing high among grasses of the field
How soft were they in my arms.
Their scent took me back, a reminder
Again and again of little me
A time in my mother's arms.

Now I'm no longer little me
I've faded into the night of time.
Today these petals give me their smile
But they'll be gone by the next dawn,
So will I cause I'm no different
Than the garden cosmos.
We're both only blooming fables,
Making castles with sand
Beside the waves of time.
