I have one very beautiful memory of Eid...

Every morning me and my Dad would go for a morning walk,
He would hold my hand, and we would chit chat at length,
A stranger passed by us wearing a long kurta and a religious cap,
My father stopped by and wished him Eid Mubarak,
The man smiled ear to ear and wished my father back,
They both hugged and said their goodbyes,
I was very young so I didn't know what was Eid,
I thought we only wish others on Diwali,
But what my father taught me that day was,
Our country is diverse and secular of all,
With so many different religions practiced,
Each festival can be celebrated by everyone irrespective,
We were never told this is not ours to celebrate,
There is no 'it is only my festival' we say,
We embrace the beauty of diversity,
Celebrate all the festivals with humility.

Thanks Dad for imparting the knowledge of oneness...
