Forgotten Daughter

She chooses drugs over me
A quick fix that gives her wings
I let her go and set her free
Although the wound sometimes stings
Another night she sits alone
She wishes she knew a way
To bear the pain or make it gone
Without killing herself in a million different ways
That bottle doesnt need an explanation
Its filled with comforting gratification
The speed keeps her up and paranoid
So much so she looses her missing void
The pills take away any aches and pains
The opiates sloppily bandage her brain
The benzos bring her back down low
She falls into deep sleeps out of control
The combination is a desperate dive
She drowns herself slowly still alive
I try to pull her from the raging water
A desperately pleading forgotten daughter
