War Ship

She floats like a dream,
Before she sinks under,
Carrying in her folds,
The dying cries of the soldiers

It's a dark night
The stars have withheld their shine
Sensing the looming tragedy
Even as the notorious iceberg splits in two
She sinks slowly

It was only a moment ago that the night sky had filled with warning lights and the cries of dying men
There should have been the smell of gun powder at least
But it was only the gushing of the waves that could be heard

So silent is the sea now, it must have all been a dream
But the bellies of the ocean cry a different story
For she is still making the unwanted descent into the foreign bottom
So it is a reality after all; the war ship has sunk
Aye, the soldiers have finished their fight
