हालातों की मजबूरी थी मेरी ,
पर तेरी क्या मजबूरी थी ?
क्यों स्वार्थ से इतना घिर गया तू ,
क्या इतनी स्वार्थता जरूरी थी ?

घर, परिवार, समाज, संसार ;
वह तो सब बहाना था ,
वाणी और नजरों ने तेरी ;
पहले ही कर दिया इशारा था !

देह और सुंदरता से ही जुड़ा ;
बस तेरे मन का धागा था ,
सुख-दुख और जीना-मरना ;
इन सबसे कहाँ तुझे कोई नाता था ?

स्वार्थ ना अपना सोचा मैंने ;
बस इतनी मेरी गलती थी ,
पर तेरे लिए तो सारी बातें ;
जैसे बहुत ही हल्की थीं !

क्योंकि हालातों की मजबूरी थी मेरी ,
पर तेरी क्या मजबूरी थी ?
क्यों स्वार्थ से इतना घिर गया तू ,
क्या इतनी स्वार्थता जरूरी थी ?

but what was your compulsion ?
why are you so surrounded by selfishness ,
was such selfishness necessary ?

Home, family, society, world ;
it was all an excuse ,
your speech and eyes ,
already hinted .

Attached to the body and beauty ;
it was just the thread of your mind ,
happiness and sorrow, living and dying ;
where did you have anything to do with all this ?

I thought not selfishly ;
it was just my fault ,
but everything for you ,
as if it were very light .

Because circumstances forced me ,
but what was your compulsion ?
why are you so surrounded by selfishness ,
was such selfishness necessary ?
