Winter of 79
Here is something I wrote at The Owl and the Pussycat poetry group. It is based on a picture from the 1970's:
I was born in the last month
Of the last year of the 70's
It was the Winter of 79
I missed the afro's and the flares
Big collars and porn star taches
Bulky tellys with alien antennas
The chaotic patterned wallpaper
It was later on I discovered the music
The Rock and Pop of that decade
AC DC, Black Sabbath, ABBA
Neil Diamond, David Bowie and Queen
Margaret Thatcher came to power
But I was too young to notice
When everything went sour
I was born in the last month
