Charcoal Memories
Your loveliness grabs hold of my pen
Each time I take a seat at this lonesome desk
It used to be a cozy place
Full-on literature of love
But now
I let your memories compose my poems
Every new line
A failed attempt to mend
Funny
You were the one who offered me this world
A place to displace all my misery
Strange
How a simple poem
Can be an occult river
For you to forfeit all your pain into
I was addicted
I altered from a bottled structure
Into a waterfall of release
Emotional paint spilled from my skull
On to paper
On to canvas
On everything around us
My gray forest
Finally met the sun
And color bloomed
But now with you gone
Not only has this desk grown stale
And my river ran dry
But this beautiful forest I once had
Burns
Leaving clouds in the sky
Noticeable from miles
And not a sos to be sent
Turning my world of release
Into a wasteland
With all the memories framed
Displayed through the fire
And even with all our pictures burnt down
You're still all I see
