The Waiting Heart

The days were unending as were the nights,
She waited and waited and waited,
But there seemed no hope in sight
And as she sat in silent despair,
Her heart ached with longing and care,
For the one she loved, who never came,
The days were filled with sorrow and shame.
But then, one night, as stars glistened above,
A gentle whisper spoke to her heart, "Love,"
"Do not despair, for all shall be well,
For the hands of fate hold your heart's desire,
And in the end, all shall be as it should be."
