Just Words
Have you ever heard words spoken
that you wish were written for you
and you go through the cycle
the twisting of your stomach
the swirling, gut-wrenching emotions
to hear those words said back to you
but it happens so much and too often
that soon you realize
you're no longer envious of the words
you want the adrenaline
and when you finally receive these words...
they mean nothing
because it's hard to believe after all this work and rejection
the words were free the whole time.
