Dementia
My memories slip and fade away,
Like a fleeting summer day.
My thoughts they wander and they stray,
As I forget who I am today.
I cannot recall my friends' names,
My thoughts are fuzzy, like a flame.
My outlook is clouded and unclear,
My days are filled with evermore fear.
Though worst of all is my own despair,
How I will cope, I do not know where.
But I shall keep faith in my heart,
That a better tomorrow will soon start.
For I know that this too shall pass,
My mind, again, to gain its class.
The blessing of my blessed life,
Will give me strength to hold on tight.
