Blackberries smashed into a bowl,
with lemon,
an enticing sourness that gives the taste buds a kick of desire.
When the juice is caught up in a cup
the flavor only lasts for so long before the sourness becomes bitter,
and the fruit ferments into an intoxication.
A sangria,
sanguine for hope that this will last,
and still bring joy,
but the truth is unless you love sourness,
unless you love the bitter taste,
or the illusion that intoxication brings,
you will never find quite the refreshment
you're looking for.
