Insecurities & Inhibitions
#WritcoPoemPrompt93

Having to deal with a challenge within, something that is hard to address, and you are not sure where to begin. Pen down a poem for the same.

Poem

We all have our fears and insecurities,
Something like daunting austerities,
We deep down all fear a lot of things,
Some as terrifying as death bell rings.

We struggle and fight wars within,
We try hard to overcome and win,
Over our deep rooted fear & inhibition,
That weigh us down into submission.

Insecurities are like blood sucking leaches,
They feed on our anxiety & nervousness,
They lower our self esteem & confidence,
And make us believe we lack substance.

Insecurities are also like cuts or bruises,
Which hurts even after getting stitches,
Grabbing us within their clutches,
They pull us down into swamp of distress.

However hard we try to overcome them,
We end up becoming paralyzed & lame,
All the ways we take leads to the same lane,
Where there is only pain and disdain.

Sometimes it is failure or abandonment,
And other times fear of sadness & lament,
Sometimes it is fear of future uncertainty,
And other times about fear of harsh reality.

These insecurities are not easy to fight,
& not something that passes with night,
These are daunting and challenging plight,
That take years of struggle and might.
