Scars
Scars are earned not acquired
Then I deserve a medal of honor
My scars paint a grotesque and battered portrait
They mar my skin with memories of pain
I have scars not from battle wound
My scars are from a civil war happening within my very own head
My scars openly display my suffrage like a museum
My very own hands tore the flesh away in the idea that it will make peace within myself
I cannot rid myself of my scars
I can only wear them like they are my best clothes and it's Sunday
Then I deserve a medal of honor
My scars paint a grotesque and battered portrait
They mar my skin with memories of pain
I have scars not from battle wound
My scars are from a civil war happening within my very own head
My scars openly display my suffrage like a museum
