In the Shadow of the Leaves
In the shadow of the leaves, I settle down,
Sunrays teasing me with the wind around.
Only then I saw a leaf,
Alone in the corner, heartbroken indeed.

She was all but faded,
Looking at other leaves; her presence was not needed.
Winds were cruel to her,
Enjoying the scene while other leaves let her suffer.

About to fall, she hugged the branch tightly;
As the wind got tired of playing, she relented slightly.
I was curious, seeing her act;
It was her time to not react.
She could get a better next life,
So why was she struggling to survive?

I left the place with a confused mind,
Thinking about the leaf I left behind.
As time passed, the sky started getting dark;
Scary winds were about to embark.
In the heart of my home, I held my breath tight;
It was a scary night.

The next morning, the sky was clear;
No wind screams; it was only silence that I could hear.
Suddenly, a thought whispered in my mind;
I started walking toward the answer I wanted to find.

Looking at the place, it was chaotic everywhere;
A little leaf lay lost, her battle fought with care.
Laying on the ground, a smile graced her face;
Maybe she had no regrets in this final space.
She gave her all to life;
The rest was for fate to decide.
