At the end, it was just me and my thoughts,
A painful trap, long after you were gone
Left alone, suffocating in my mind
wondering, if what we had was ever real.
My memory has become a curse,
recalling all the wonderful moments we shared.
My skin still can't forget
the warmth it felt from your touch.
But with all the wonderful thoughts,
the feelings and the empty promises,
comes intense pain.
that my heart can't seem to escape.
I am overcome with shame
because I know, that deep down
I still love you.
You live in my dreams,
and during the day,
you're locked away
at the back of my mind.
You wait for me to be alone again,
and when it's just me and my thoughts
I realise that I walked into a painful trap.
And that trap is you.
