I See Me
I wake up each morning
Stumble from my bed to the bathroom
Each day it takes just a little longer
Eyes still stuck in snooze mode
Wishing I was just a little stronger
Man it’s tough getting old

Cold water running
How much further can I sink
Washing the night before from my eyes
Still too early to think
I splash my face
Rub my head
Staring into the mirror
I don’t see any surprise

I see me
For better or worse
Can’t hide from the world
Is it a blessing or a curse
I am who I am
Will be what I was meant to be
Can’t go on pretending
To be something I am not
But I hope you can see something in me
Please just give me one more shot

Not gonna turn away
When you pour the last ounce
Of what’s left in your bottle
Unless it’s your tears
I know I’ve done wrong
Through the doubts and the fears
Been playing the blame game
For too many years

It’s time I start listening
To what you have to say
Can’t take another day of uncertainty
It’s time to commit, move on and quit
Those old dreadful ways
Crime never pays

I see me
Feeling better not worse
Exorcised my curse
Seeing the world in a new light
You helped me to fight
No longer pretending to be someone I’m not
Cause you,
Found something in me
Thanks for the shot
